Susan Mills is a friend and a fantastic storyteller. The Leaf Key will captivate your imagination as Susan unravels the story of how Kara, a nursing student, seeks and finds direction and wisdom for life in the magical land of Paredonia. Her journey is met with many colorful characters, wise counsel, and mystical creatures. Once you open the pages to The Leaf Key, you will instantly see the world through Kara’s eyes, as she discovers new desires, directions, and her destiny.
When Susan asked me if I would write the forward to her first look, I felt incredibly honored because I believe that a writer’s first literary piece is sacred. As an author myself, the opportunity to be one of the first to experience Susan’s work was an opportunity I could not pass on.
Susan is an artist and visionary, whose words, imagination, and creativity will paint into your minds a whole new world, a kingdom, that will challenge you to believe for more.

The Leaf Key
A short synopsis:
Kara Alder is a young woman in her mid-twenties in search of her purpose and destiny in life. She is unhappy in her work and studies and feels great confusion on what path to take in life. The man she thought she would marry has left her with a broken heart. To escape her dark mood, she goes for a bike ride to the woods nearby and picks up a beautiful fall leaf, unaware that this simple action will catapult her into another dimension altogether, a world full of beauty and light, but also filled with evil and darkness that is wanting to take over.

She is sent a kindly and wise older gentleman to be her guide on the journey, but as they become separated, she finds herself totally alone and cries out to the Jesus she once knew for help. Kara finds out that she has a role to play in the unfolding of the story of this new place, which could also change her own life. But which life, she thinks? “I seem to be in two places at once!” Will she be able to fulfill her assignment, or will the darkness overpower her here, too? And where will her journey end?
